Ob-literate

Compositions, Featured

Ob-literate_affiche_6_maart_wOb-literate is a collaborative composition by Zeno van den Broek & Gagi Petrovic for organ, vocal ensemble and electronics. It was commissioned by Gaudeamus in the summer of 2014 and had its premiere in March of 2016 at the Nicolaïkerk, Utrecht – The Netherlands. It was also performed at the Orgelpark in Amsterdam and was presented at Vrije Geluiden program on national Dutch television.

Ob-literate sprouts from a shared fascination for that which is obscured, intangible and for how destruction can open unexpected paths. For this we draw inspiration from articles revolving around The Destructive Character. Check this link for the original article by Walter Benjamin. Futhermore we are distilling words and concepts from interpretations by Dick Raaijmakers and the poem Étui by Adam Staley Groves.
